Bridging the Gap Between Love of God and Love of Nature
Many people experience God most strongly in nature but do not know how to incorporate this experience into their spiritual life. Others question whether Christianity has room for nature at all and seek alternatives elsewhere, often leaving Christianity entirely. This year’s retreat will focus on Living in an Icon: A Program for Growing Closer to Creation and to God by Robert Gottfried and Frederick W. Krueger. Guided by the Rev. Verneda Kelly, the book, addresses this crucial issue by providing a resource for fostering a closer relationship with God and creation. Please purchase and read the book prior to the retreat and bring a Prayer Book for the Sunday Holy Eucharist.
Our Retreat Leader: The Rev. Verneda Kelly
Verneda is an Episcopal Priest, ordained in 2015 as a Bi-Vocational Priest. She worked with the Nebraska Department of Transportation at the time, in the Director's Office while studying with the Bishop Kemper School of Ministry in Topeka, KS. Currently, she is the Pastoral Care Coordinator for Holy Trinity Church in Lincoln, and also work as a pulpit supply priest on occasion. Verneda's husband is an ordained Deacon in the Episcopal Church, serving at St. Marks on the Campus in Lincoln. In the past, Verneda and her husband have worked together in healing ministries and love mission work.
